I’ve always wanted to start an advertising agency. I thought it might be smart to firstly find out how other people do it.

Beginning with Clemenger in Perth, I worked my way through agencies in Melbourne, Sydney, Chicago and London. One day I woke up and came to the inevitable conclusion that the time had come to put the name on the door. Just do it!

After some rigorous planning (Giesen Sauvignon Blanc) and the necessary dash of cavalier self-belief (it’s something you call on regularly), Roger and I set up Fenton Stephens in 2005.

The thing I find most rewarding about being Creative Director and Managing Partner, and what motivates my enthusiasm on a daily basis, is the chance to work with clients directly in truly collaborative relationships.

I really do enjoy growing our clients’ business and I firmly believe that great campaigns build great brands, not one-off ads.
